Welcome to Our Community

The Center for California Homeowner Association Law is a clearinghouse of consumer education, training, and referral services for the estimated 14 million homeowners, who live in California’s 55,000 common interest developments (CIDs) and for consumers who are considering purchasing an association home.

The Center’s mission is to provide training and support to public interest attorneys, to Legal Services organizations, to fair housing agencies, and to other nonprofits serving homeowners; to government agencies with jurisdiction over CIDs, and public officials, journalists, and researchers delving into the public policy issues raised by CIDs in their role as quasi-local governments. The focus of the Center is the web of laws and regulations creating the CID’s legal framework that governs both the lives and the property of association homeowners.

Many of the articles on the website are public.  Others require registration — for free — as an Online Member.  Some material is available as a benefit to Contributing Members of the Center.  Just click on the JOIN US! box directly above to read about membership categories.

The Center is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt nonprofit organization.  Membership Contributions and donations are fully tax-deductible.
