TAKE ACTION! AB2159 Vote is Tuesday: Deletes Secret Ballot, Cripples Voting Rights 

      AB2159 will be voted on TUESDAY July 2nd 8 A.M. IN SACRAMENTO – Join us! 

  • AB2159 will make it just about impossible for HOA owners to challenge elections in court, because internet voting leaves no paper trail, that is: no signed envelopes or paper ballots that can be collected as evidence and put before the court
  • A neutral Inspector of Elections will no longer required to run elections 
  • AB2159 will increase costs because the bill says HOAs will have to run two voting systems simultaneously: internet voting and the current system of paper balloting for those who reject internet voting. Owners have to decide 3 months in advance which system they want.
  • The bedrock of voting is THE SECRET BALLOT, but experts from CalTech, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Secretaries of State from California and Arizona, UC Berkeley School of Public Policy, Verified Voting ALL say that, right now, the technology simply doesn’t exist to make internet voting either secret or secure. 
  • AB2159 sets no standards either for the equipment to be used in internet voting or the vendors hired by the HOA to run the equipment.
  • Internet voting deletes the ability of owners to witness the handling of envelopes and tabulation of ballots.

 TAKE ACTION!  Please phone – don’t email – at least two members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, who will vote TUESDAY AT 8 A.M. on AB2150/Maienschein.  CALL TODAY SUNDAY OR TOMORROW FIRST THING.

Introduce yourself as an owner whose VOTING RIGHTS are impacted by this state legislation and urge a “NO!” vote on AB2159 – and thank whoever registers your opinion.
